Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Bernard relocated to Los Angeles in December of 2000. Since that time, he has been seen onstage at the Odyssey Theatre in “Macbeth,” The Ahmanson Theatre in, “Romeo and Juliet” Directed by Sir Peter Hall. He has also been active in numerous workshops and readons throughout town, primarily with the Mark Taper Forum.

Before arriving in Los Angeles, he was a company member at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, performing in, “Henry V” and “The Man Who Came to Dinner.” In new York, Bernard appeared on Broadway in “Electra” starring Zoe Wanamaker, as well as such notable productions as “Uncle Jack,” “Incommunicado,” “Fixin the Album” (an Audelco Nomination for Supporting Actor) “Othello” and several Shows at the Pearl Theatre.

Regionally, he has performed at the California Shakespeare Festival, The Long Wharf, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The McCarter Theatre in Princeton, Indiana REP and has been a company member at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C. as well as Play Makers Rep in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Bernard’s teaching credits include Lincoln Center Institute and Theatre for a New Audience in NYC, “Text Alive!” in Washington DC, Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina. Bernard holds a Bachelors of Arts from the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
